LUXURY WEEKEND BREAK-UPS

How do you fancy a weekend break in a luxury hotel? What about a weekend break-up? That’s what’s on offer in the Netherlands with a new concept known as the Divorce Hotel. There separating couples can hole themselves up together for a weekend, albeit in separate single rooms. During their stay they get the benefits of lawyers and mediation services to help them work out the terms of their split, as well as the facilities of the hotel for “time-out.” At the end of their stay it is anticipated that an agreement will have been reached that encompasses arrangements for children and finance, all reached in a relaxing environment.

Curiously I couldn’t find any last minute deals for such a stay, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

I think the divorce hotel is a great idea!...put the spouses (soon to be ex-spouses) in a good mood and begin the negotiation process while stayig the weekend at a luxury hotel....

Sort of the opposite of a honeymoon hotel, isn't it? :)

Although I'm reminded of the quote "It's so difficult when contemplated in advance, so easy in retrospect." My ex and I dreaded the big talk, and by doing it in public at a coffee shop, we agreed to all major issues within 1 hour...

Brilliant - I wonder if we should let the big coffee shop chains know that they have scope for diversification in their services too?

Usually, married couples go to the hotels to have an anniversary vacation, a honeymoon or a Valentine's night. It's funny to realize that hotels can be also a divorce spot, complete with lawyers and mediators. I think because they want to have a clear and relaxed mind to decide if they're going to split up or not.

Only the Dutch could come up with something like this!
